about

This song is based on my observation of how the extraction of resources affects the land, but don't worry, this is not a lecture.

The Casio keyboard driving the song is from Japan. Japan, as a powerhouse of technology production, especially when this keyboard was made, got me thinking.

I thought of the relatively small country being first discovered and colonised by humans. Then about factories cropping up manufacturing all manner of technologies until eventually this modified ecosystem envelops the entire landscape and becomes the only environment.
Technology. People and technology.

Not a completely original concept I will have to admit but it was the thought of what my keyboard could conceivably be a part of that gave inspiration to the lyrics in the song and possible the songs composition too.

Dedicated to my lovely Grandmother Patricia Warnock who handed the keyboard down to me.

lyrics

Something was all over
Something in the land
Far away, cross the sea
to Japan

Something was here
Something was quite near
Far away, cross the sea
to Japan

Little taken over
Man meets on the land
Time rises over
Movin' of the man far away

There was people walkin' over
There was people on the land
Far away, cross the sea
to Japan

There was people walkin' over
There was people on the land
People walkin' all over the span
of Japan

But I would see you over
I would see you land
in Japan

Viaducts in the land
People walkin' over
All over on the land
in Japan

Lyrics repeated again except for end variation:

But I would see you over
I would see you land
Little taken over
Little on the land
people walkin' over
Over on the land
But I would see you over
All over on the land
in Japan

Viaducts in the land
People walkin' over
All over on the land
in Japan.

Lincoln will admit that audio engineering isn't his first talent which is why the bedroom aesthetic of many of these home recordings comes shining through but the ideas, by and large, are fully formed here. ... more
